According to data released by the Hellenic Association of Insurance Companies for the period January-August 2021, premium turnover for insurance companies operating in Greece rose by 9.5%. Life insurance was up 15.3% and non-life rose by 4.8%.
Investment-linked scheme performance remains excellent with a +62.9% increase, while group policies continue to trend upward by +7.7% and health insurance rising +12.3%.
Vehicle civil liability was disappointing, with a further reduction of -2.2%, as was fire insurance, down -0.2%.
Nevertheless, it seems that the major losses caused by fires in August roused the insurance awareness of a small portion of citizens and fire insurance sales saw a rise of 5.4%. Non-life insurance overall was at +16.0%, and life insurance at +8.3%.
