Integrated ecosystem of healthcare services from Interamerican

Consistently focusing on people and their lives, Interamerican has gone a step beyond insurance to create an entire ecosystem of products and expanded services related to healthcare, aiming at providing comprehensive and high-quality care to every policyholder.

At the core of its insurance activity is the bewell health system. It is an innovative, completely customised health insurance solution that offers complete coverage and support at every stage: from prevention and diagnosis to healthcare and hospitalisation.

Both in the primary and secondary healthcare sectors, Interamerican’s health system is supported by an extensive cooperating network of national scope that includes 250+ diagnostic centres and 1,400+ physicians of all specialisms. Interamerican’s privately owned healthcare facilities – the two state-of-the-art Medifirst primary medical centres in Maroussi and Argyroupoli and the Athinaki Mediclinic general hospital in Ambelokipi – serve company policyholders as well as the general public. In 2021, the Medifirst medical centres handled 154,912 cases, while the Athinaiki Mediclinic hospital had 7,071 hospital admissions and 24,078 medical visits.

Also available to policyholders is the Interamerican 1010 Healthline, which is available 24/7/365 for calls in Greece or abroad to provide medical advice for any routine or emergency medical situation and coordinate medical transport and provide information on policies and procedures.

For demanding and emergency healthcare cases, Interamerican’s Emergency Medical Assistance (EMA) undertakes the safe and responsible transport of its policyholders to the closest appropriate medical facility. With its fleet of 18 privately owned ambulances and exclusive use of 4 planes and 3 helicopters, the company’s EMA responded to 34,186 emergency cases in 2021. Specifically, it transported 5,601 patients by ambulance, carried out 104 patient transfers by air from distant islands and abroad and provided medical advice in a total of 28,768 health cases. It is worth noting that since 2021, the permanent residents of the islands of Andros, Syros and Sifnos have been covered by Interamerican’s EMA service.

As part of Interamerican’s integrated healthcare system, all health policyholders are provided with the pioneering application Medi ON. The application allows users to quickly check on any health symptom of concern, receive a reliable assessment of their health situation and advice on how to treat symptoms. Through the applications, users also receive medical guidance (by phone or online chat) from an Interamerican physician and can locate the most appropriate practitioner or diagnostic centre for their health problem in their area that is contracted with the Interamerican healthcare network.

Interamerican health policyholders looking for a second opinion on a serious health issue they may be facing have one more extremely important service at hand: free access to the Best Doctors consultation service consisting of a global network of 50,000+ top physicians in 400+ medical specialisms.

With the aim of improving the quality of life of every one of its policy holders, Interamerican is working with leading organisations, companies and specialists to offer special benefits and specialised content in the areas of healthy diet, physical exercise and sound mental health.

Giorgos Veliotis, General Manager for Life and Health at Interamerican, said: “Interamerican’s unique healthcare system ensures direct access to integrated, top-level health services and is now laying the groundwork to allow us to offer our customers in future even more innovative and high-quality healthcare products and services.”
