New drone insurance options from Atlantic Union

Part of Atlantic Union’s identity is its desire to continually strive to stay ahead of technological developments. Its modern character is demonstrated by its pioneering and flexible insurance plan, one of which offers third-party civil liability for drones (unmanned aerial vehicles-UVAs).

UVAs are a rapidly growing sector, as they offer new jobs and create favourable conditions in various economic sectors, while it cannot be ignored that for many people, drones are a pleasurable means of recreation.

Based on Greek legislation and European regulations, drones were recently classified based on the risk associated with their use, regardless of whether they are used for recreational or professional purposes.

No matter the case, the policyholder’s insurance covers civil liability for bodily harm and/or material damages that may be caused to third parties through the operation and use of drones where the user is at fault.

The Atlantic Union policy ensures particularly high coverage amounts (specified by new law) and specifically:

Bodily harm (isolated accident)             up to €1,000,000

Bodily harm (group accident)                 up to €1,000,000

Material damage per accident               up to €150,000

Maximum company liability per year    up to €1,000,000

The requirement for third-party liability insurance applies both in cases where the drone is used for professional purposes and when used privately, but where the aircraft weight is equal to or greater than 4 kg.

Based on these changes, Atlantic Union restructured its premiums by drone category starting with €80 for the open category, €245 for the special category and €295 for the certified category.

Along with these new prices, also significant is the easy access to information and purchase of coverage through the broad-based network of experienced Atlantic Union partners and with the help of the company’s advanced digital systems.
